In his latest interview with Sherif Amer on MBC Masr, Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that the Suez Canal impacted the history of Egypt like no other place. He added that many countries have benefitted from the Canal without having to pay the price which Egypt did pay, highlighting the fact that no place in the world has faced greed and exploitation like the Suez Canal.
In addition, he pointed out that President Sisi’s visit to the Canal in the aftermath of the re-floating of the stranded ship reflects his faith in his country and the ability of its people, noting that the Egyptian authorities performed a real miracle by tackling this unprecedented challenge. He maintained that this incident was a testament to Egypt’s willpower and strength in the face of ordeals.
