Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, received Dr. Cyrill Nunn, the German Ambassador to Egypt, on Thursday, 1 April 2021.
Elfeki expressed his delight with Ambassador Nunn’s visit to the BA, as both of them exchanged views on a number of cultural issues. In addition, Elfeki highlighted the distinguished role of the BA in the dissemination of culture and knowledge among civilizations, and stressed that the BA is concentrating its efforts on the promotion of arts, culture, and the conservation of heritage.
Ambassador Nunn was pleased to visit the BA, highlighting its prominent role as a beacon of culture and knowledge in Egypt and around the world. He stated that he is interested in cooperating with the BA on future cultural projects.
During their meeting, Dr. Elfeki and Ambassador Nunn discussed the cooperation projects between the BA and a number of German entities and institutions, including the organization of several training courses, in collaboration with Hanns Seidel Foundation (Egypt Office), to improve the employment opportunities for people with visual disabilities. They also referred to “Germany… The Land of Inventors” exhibition, which was organized by the BA in March 2021, in conjunction with the Goethe-Institute in Alexandria.
Moreover, Dr. Elfeki presented Ambassador Nunn with a collection of BA publications, including The Photographic Memory of Cairo.
