Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, inaugurated the African League of Young Masters’ ninth graduation ceremony on Tuesday, 28 September 2021.
Elfeki said that the Library is proud to be celebrating the graduation of the African League of Young Masters’ students for the ninth consecutive year, held as part of the activities organized by the Sustainable Development Studies, Youth Capacity Building, and African Relations Support Program. He pointed out that this year’s cohort included more than 500 African students at Egyptian universities, representing several countries such as Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, Malawi, Comoros, Somalia, Kenya, and Nigeria.
He added that the BA, in cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, had announced a call for application for the second round of their joint postdoctoral research grants program that targets Egyptian and African researchers.
The ceremony witnessed the participation of Dr. Yasser Refaat, Deputy Minister of Higher Education; Ambassador Mohammed Khalil, Secretary General of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD); Dr. Hesham El-Askary, Professor of Remote Sensing and Earth System Science, Chapman University, USA; Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University; and Dr. Shahira Samir, Vice-Chancellor of Ain Shams University.
The celebration also saw many students sharing their different cultures through songs, national dances, and traditional costumes that represent their respective countries.
