Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, inaugurated a seminar entitled “Renewing the Egyptian Thought in Modern Times: Imam Muhammad Abduh as an Example.” The seminar was held on Tuesday, 18 February 2020, and witnessed the participation of several university professors and intellectuals, in addition to the great grandchildren and descendants of Imam Muhammad Abduh.
Dr. Elfeki highlighted the reformist thoughts adopted by Muhammad Abduh, and his inspirational role in the Urabi revolt. He also referred to his distinguished books, and their influence in many countries around the world, in addition to his communication with Western intellectuals including the Russian Writer Tolstoy.
Dr. Elfeki granted Mr. Adham Ibrahim Mady, one of the great-grandchildren of Imam Muhammad Abduh, the Shield of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in honor of the prominent achievements of the late Imam.
It is worth mentioning that the seminar was part of the BA Majlis Ṭahṭāwī that is concerned with the course of renewing the Egyptian thought and the role of the pioneers of enlightenment in modern times.
