Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that the state of unrest witnessed in the US is not a case of changing power; it is an old case to eradicate racism, noting that the death of George Floyd at the hands of a police officer is a real tragedy of extreme racism.
He added, in a TV interview via Skype with host Sherif Amer, as part of the program Yahdoth fi Masr (Happening in Egypt), that Floyd’s words “I can’t breathe” would forever remain in the American history, stressing the fact that this case would be a black chapter in the history of the US.
Dr. Elfeki also saw that the way President Donald Trump handled the latest events, together with the Coronavirus crisis, had reduced his chances in the upcoming presidential elections.
