The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing a celebration on Tuesday, 17 May 2022, to mark 20 years since its revival. The celebration features a number of musical performances, and will be attended by a host of public figures and intellectuals.
Dr. Moustafa Elfeki said that the BA is entering its 20th year after a hiatus of more than 20 centuries since its establishment at the hands of Ptolemy I and Ptolemy II. He stated that the Library has now regained its glorious status, occupying an outstanding position among international cultural institutions.
Elfeki added that celebrating the revival of the BA reflects the Library’s leading role in the preservation of heritage and the development of creativity, while bridging the gap between nations and peoples.
The celebration comprises musical performances presented by prominent Egyptian and international artists, including Ramzi Yassa, Farrah El-Dibany, Amira Selim, Mariam Abu Zahra, and Sherif Mohie El Din. The BA Orchestra will be conducted by Nayer Nagui.
The celebration also includes a short documentary film screening produced by the BA Studio Department.
The event will witness the participation of Dr. Mai Mogeeb, Dr. Marwa El-Wakil, and Dr. Sameh Fawzy. It will be presented by Dr. Al Shaimaa El Demerdash.
Accompanied by the BA Choir, the celebration will be concluded by a medley of national songs by Rageh Daoud, and will be broadcast live via the BA YouTube Channel.
