Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that he is not against the development of Ethiopia, but against injustice and inequality, and depriving Egypt of its historical right of the Nile water. He noted that Ethiopia gave an impression to the world that it is a poor country, suffering from water and electricity shortage; an allegation believed by many countries.
He added in his TV interview on MBC Masr that it was obvious that Addis Ababa had a prepared agenda that was being implemented during the last decade, and that it is dealing with the case of the Renaissance Dam by the same Israeli logic (change the situation on the ground, and you are stronger at the negotiations), hence it rushed to build the Dam. He also maintained that he is not optimistic about the capability of the African Union to put pressure on Ethiopia to solve the Renaissance Dam crisis.
Moreover, Elfeki emphasized that the “Cairo Declaration” concerning the Libyan crisis was rational and well-intentioned, highlighting the fact that Egypt made its position clear about the Libyan crisis, as it aims for the independence of Libya and has no ambitions of its own. He also asserted that Erdoğan never entered Libya to achieve peace, but to divide it and spread terrorism in it.
