Dr. Mostafa ElFeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that the US elections scheduled next November will have its repercussions on the Arab region and Egypt both on the level of States and peoples because the USA is the most powerful country in the world owing to its economic, military, and technological capacities despite of several countries’ attempts to eliminate this power.
In his TV interview on MBC Masr, ElFeki maintained that Trump and Biden have equal opportunities to win the elections. However, he wishes that Trump will win because President El-Sisi enjoys good relationship with Trump pointing out to the fact that the US –Egyptian relationships would not be as strong in case Biden wins. ElFeki said that a president’s character undoubtedly affects the nature of his country’s relationship with other states.
When asked about the Egyptian stance in case Biden wins the elections, ElFeki emphasized that there is no place for emotions on the political arena. If Biden wins, Egypt will have to deal with him because Egypt seeks to maintain sound communication channels with all international parties.
