Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, met the families of the martyrs Colonel Ahmed El-Mansi and Major Ahmed El-Shabrawy on Monday, 14 September 2020, to honor them.
Elfeki said that the martyrs changed the face of history in Egypt, and that their names will forever be carved in the nation’s memory. He stressed that the Egyptian people will always remember their great glory, heroism, and sacrifice for their country.
In response to a question raised by one of the attendees, Dr. Elfeki commended the TV series Al-Ekhtiyar (The Choice) which portrayed the life of the martyr Colonel El-Mansi and the heroes of ‘El-Barth’ fight (Rafah terror attack). He mentioned that he was among the millions of Egyptians who watched the series and was intensely moved by it, hoping that the sons of the martyrs would follow their fathers’ example saying: “The sons of the martyrs will live in pride all their lives.”
Additionally, Dr. Elfeki presented an honorary BA subscription to the martyrs’ families, with an open invitation to visit the Library. He also took photos with them and granted them the Shield of the Library of Alexandria.
