Dr. Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria and Chairman of the Arab Media Center, inaugurated on Monday, 30 November 2020, the “People and Banks” conference in its 14th edition entitled “COVID-19 Economic Recovery”. The event was attended by a group of governmental figures and senior banking officials.
During his address, Dr. Elfeki stated that President Sisi and the Egyptian government were very conscious about the epidemic and sought to combat its consequences at an early stage, pointing out to the precautionary measures taken by the government which succeeded -to a great extent- in alleviating the repercussions of the crisis.
Elfeki noted that in spite of the economic consequences of Corona on the global level, the Egyptian economy managed to withstand the negative impacts of COVID-19 outburst and achieved positive growth rates, highlighting the robustness of the banking sector which contributed to limiting the negative impacts of the pandemic on the economic level.
