Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that one of the most significant political incidents that took place in 2020 was the new, open Arab-Israeli relationships, highlighting the fact that 2020 had brought down the taboos and barriers between the two parties.
He added, during his interview with Sherif Amer on MBC Masr, that the peace deal between the UAE and Israel was better than the “Deal of the Century.” He emphasized that the agreements between the Arab countries and Israel do not infringe on the rights of the Palestinians.
In addition, Elfeki predicted that the Syrian crisis might witness a positive change in 2021, since the forces opposed to Bashar Al-Assad have changed. He also expected the stabilization of the situation in Yemen, while being concerned about the resurgence of conflict in certain parts of Iraq.
With regard to the Renaissance Dam, Elfeki maintained that the case is still open, but the situation is not in favor of Ethiopia, especially that regional and international powers now admire Egypt's discreet attitude.
