In his latest interview with Sherif Amer on MBC Masr, Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that 2020 was the year of coronavirus, and that it caused major economic and political changes in the world, noting that the process of development in Egypt was not hindered as a result of the pandemic.
With reference to the performance of some world leaders over the past year, Elfeki pointed out that President Vladimir Putin’s position was stable, unlike the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, whose reign began unreasonably with a Nobel Peace Prize, and ended with a civil war. Moreover, Elfeki stated that President Emmanuel Macron dominated the political scene in 2020, despite the fact that he had no political background and was a newcomer to the French politics. He also emphasized that President Macron played a significant role in Lebanon, the European Union, and against Turkey.
In addition, Elfeki said that the two most important cases, on which Egypt should focus in 2021, are the issue of the Renaissance Dam and the Egyptian-American relations under Joe Biden’s administration.
