Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that he had expected an Arab reconciliation to take place, noting that he based his expectation on the fact that the Gulf States share common histories, and that the ongoing dispute could not last for long.
He added, in his interview with Sherif Amer on MBC Masr, that Egypt was never a stumbling block against the Gulf unity, and that it welcomed the reconciliation, especially after establishing certain rules and demanding transparency and honesty in the agreement process.
Moreover, Elfeki asserted that the Gulf rift did not serve the interest of any country, and that Qatar was not pleased with being alienated from other Arab countries all these years. He also stated that there should be complete frankness in order for the Arab reconciliation to continue.
