In his latest interview with Sherif Amer on MBC Masr, Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that the high proportion of young people in the new Parliament is highly promising, and that Judge Hanafy El-Gebaly, the newly elected Speaker of Parliament, has considerable legal experience. He hoped that this Parliament would play a regulatory role, and witness more participation from the ministers in its sessions.
Regarding his recently published memoir The Story… A Journey of Time and Place, Elfeki asserted that he tried to make it an enjoyable read without doing injustice to the figures mentioned. He highlighted the fact that he referred to late President Hosni Mubarak with complete impartiality, stating that he was a patriotic man, but had his faults.
With reference to the latest events in the United States, Elfeki pointed out that he was astonished to see the Capitol building being stormed, noting that some might view this incident as undermining the image of the US, while others might see it as an indication of greater democracy.
