In his latest interview with Sherif Amer on MBC Masr, Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that Egypt had been considerably patient with regard to the Renaissance Dam negotiations. He asserted that the time has come for each party to take responsibility for its actions, noting that Ethiopia had attempted to deceive Egypt and pursue building the Dam.
Elfeki also stated that the political stance of Former Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir towards Ethiopia concerning the issue of the Renaissance Dam was shameful and antagonistic to Egypt, highlighting the fact that Sudan now recognizes the serious risk of the Dam, and therefore prompted to strike a deal with Egypt.
Moreover, he pointed out that President Sisi’s approach regarding the issue of the Renaissance Dam was not hostile to any party, noting that internationalizing the case was a ‘smart move’ by Egypt, to hold the whole world accountable for its actions towards this case.
