In his latest interview with Sherif Amer on MBC Masr, Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that women have become more ambitious towards occupying leading ministerial and parliamentary positions, which is a positive phenomenon, noting that he has never seen a president respecting and doing justice to women like President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
He pointed out that there are many pioneering women in the history of Egypt, such as Samira Moussa, the first female Egyptian Nuclear Physicist, and Hikmat Abu Zayd, the first female Egyptian Minister in the sixties. He also highlighted the fact that the percentage of women representation in the diplomatic service is on the rise (increasing by one-third), and that women are demonstrating high efficiency and competency in the workplace.
In addition, he maintained that the issue surrounding the disparity in efficiency between men and women is spurious and unjustified. He stated, “It is unfair to talk about women as in the past, especially since Islam has granted women financial rights as well as the right to work.”
