Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, received a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to explore the avenues of cooperation between both parties on current and future projects. The meeting took place on 25 August 2021.
Dr. Elfeki underlined the Library’s interest in supporting and cooperating with the Japan International Cooperation Agency on Egyptian projects, namely the project of establishing the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Members of the delegation highlighted the role of the Agency in the establishment of the Grand Egyptian Museum through offering of technical support and knowledge exchange with regard to museums, exhibitions, and excavation and restoration processes. The delegation also stressed the fact that this project represents one of the most important aspects of the Egyptian-Japanese collaboration in the fields of tourism and antiquities.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Elfeki pointed out that the BA is keen on providing full support to the Agency in its projects executed in Egypt.
