A joint meeting of the Arab Ministers of Tourism and Culture was held on Tuesday, 11 December 2018, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, with the presence of Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA; His Royal Highness Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage; Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League; Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, and Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Tourism.
Dr. Moustafa Elfeki noted that the BA is a beacon of knowledge, and a bridge between cultures and civilizations, as it believes in the interaction between culture and all developmental sectors and their role in the promotion and advancement of Arab nations. He also added that the BA has several partnerships with countries and Arabic institutions in the field of cultural heritage, and that it will be more open to the Arab World through its future activities.
His Royal Highness Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz said that the goal of this meeting is to stress the importance of the interrelation between tourism and culture sectors in the Arab World, and offer an insight to apply this interaction on the economic level.
Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit mentioned that the Arab World is unique with the diversity of its resources, and asserted the importance of preserving, safeguarding and promoting its cultural heritage.
