Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA, and Ambassador Janina Herrera, the Consul of France in Alexandria, inaugurated the “Typo Graphiae Arabicae” Exhibition, which was organized by the BA Art Exhibitions and Collections Department, in collaboration with Institut français d'Egypte. The exhibition runs from 11 September to 6 October 2019, in the BACC East Exhibition Hall.
Dr. Elfeki said that the display of the art and history of Arabic writing lies at the center of the BA mission to foster creativity and preserve national heritage.
The “Typo Graphiae Arabicae” Exhibition covers several centuries of the art of writing, including posters from Algiers to Beirut in the 70s and 80s, in addition to the history of typed Arabic scripts from the 16th century to the 21st century. Moreover, a selection of documents from the BA Rare Books collection and the collection of the BA Writing and Scripts Center are on display as part of the exhibition.
