Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, as part of the 15th International Cavafy Symposium that was held on 2 and 3 October 2019.
The memorandum strengthens the cooperation between Mediterranean cities through organizing different cultural activities between the BA and the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, with an aim of highlighting the regional role of both institutions in spreading cultural and historical awareness, and promoting tourism.
The 15th International Cavafy Symposium was organized by the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, in cooperation with the BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med), the Ministries of Culture of Greece and Egypt, Cairo Opera House and the Greek Cultural Center, and under the auspices of the Greek Embassy in Cairo. It was attended by Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, the Governor of Alexandria, and a number of Arab and foreign consuls.
Additionally, the BA Art Exhibitions and Collections Department organized a photo exhibition entitled: “Hidden Memory: “Averof”, the Greek School of Alexandria”, which pays homage to the legend of the Greek school “Averof”.
