Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA, said that he was eager to document the history of the Egyptian nation, with its religious and cultural heritage. He added that the history of the Coptic Church is part of the history of Egypt, and that Egyptians consider the Church’s popes as spiritual leaders and national icons.
He also noted that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had consistently reinforced the concept of human equality, and had practically sought to implement the principle of citizenship, in a way that did not merely rely on theoretical speeches and rhetoric.
This came as part of a telephone conversation between Dr. Elfeki and Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria, to congratulate the latter on the History of the Papal Headquarters; an encyclopedic book recently published by the BA.
