Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said that Ethiopia is giving an impression to the world that it is the weaker and poorer party, desperate for development, and that Egypt is hindering this endeavor. He asserted that this allegation is unfounded because Egypt understands and encourages the development efforts made by Ethiopia, but without causing serious harm to its own water rights.
He also added in his TV interview on MBC Masr: “We must make a huge effort in the current negotiations, agree on the details, and make things clear for the coming generation. What we work on solving today might be difficult for future generations to solve, and that is not in the interest of all parties (Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia).”
Moreover, he maintained that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi succeeded in raising the case of the Renaissance Dam before the entire world at the UN last September, and now before the Security Council, since it is a case that threatens international peace and security, the responsibility of which is taken by all permanent members of the Council.
Regarding the Libyan case, Dr. Elfeki said that President Sisi’s speech at Sidi Barrani military base was the most serious since he assumed office. He noted that the speech was clear and precise, and that the President chose his words wisely and carefully, as a man calling for peace and stability, without any comprises in the situations affecting the Egyptian national security.
