Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA, inaugurated yesterday the “Alexandria .. A Special Creativity” conference, to honor the Alexandrian artists and intellectuals, who won the State’s Awards in Arts, Literature and Social Sciences. The conference aims to highlight the development of the literary and artistic movement in Alexandria, past and at present, and to shed lights on the city’s most prominent writers, intellectuals and artists.
Dr. Elfeki expressed his delight for honoring Alexandrian writers and intellectuals, and stressed the fact that the BA is keen to host cultural and artistic events at its premises. He also emphasized that Alexandria has always been a beacon for arts and culture; however, its status has deteriorated in the last few decades as a result of its marginalization. He maintained that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is currently establishing housing and traffic projects in Alexandria to enable the city to regain its splendor and grandeur.
The conference was divided into two main sessions: “Alexandrian Creativity in Egyptian Culture”, and “Models of Alexandrian Experiences”, and witnessed the participation of several distinguished writers, artists, intellectuals and public figures.
