The BA celebrated 10 years since the establishment of the Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies, on Monday, 21 October 2019. The Center was established in 2008, in collaboration with the BA, Alexandria University, the Vardinoyannis Foundation, and Onassis Foundation. It is open to scholars from around the world who are keen to obtain diplomas, master’s degrees, and PhDs in Hellenistic studies in history; literature; art, archaeology, and architecture; and philosophy and science.
Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA, highlighted the important relationship between Egypt and Greece throughout history, and emphasized the role of the BA as a beacon of knowledge and culture.
In addition to its academic role, the Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies organized several lectures, seminars, courses and conferences over the last 10 years, which were held in cooperation with more than 20 universities and international academic institutions.
The celebration witnessed the participation of Mrs Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, Founder and President of the “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation”, together with the Pope of the Greek Orthodox Church, and a number of diplomatic figures and academic staff at Alexandria University.
